Mark Bleasdale, General Manager at Pleasington Golf Club, said: “The Open is one of the world’s biggest sporting events and attracts more than 250,000 spectators each year. We already welcome many UK golfers making the trip north from London and the Midlands to Scotland, but this year could well be a record year for golf tourism in the region.”

Located just 1-hour from Royal Birkdale and easily accessed via the M6, Pleasington Golf Club is ideally situated for golfers travelling to and from The Open

Pleasington Golf Club, Lancashire’s No.1 Heathland Course, is attracting golfers from around the world this summer as fans descend on the North West to watch The Open 2026.

Golfers from America, Italy, Denmark and Finland are among the groups pre-booking rounds on the UK and Ireland Top 200 Golf Course (Golf Monthly), bringing valuable tourism income to the region ahead of golf’s oldest major championship at Royal Birkdale, July 16-19.

Mark Bleasdale, General Manager at Pleasington Golf Club, said: “To receive enquiries from the United States and golfers across Europe saying they have heard of Pleasington and wish to play our course this summer is great for the club – and good news for the region as a whole.

“The Open is one of the world’s biggest sporting events and attracts more than 250,000 spectators each year. We already welcome many UK golfers making the trip north from London and the Midlands to Scotland, but this year could well be a record year for golf tourism in the region.”

Pleasington Golf Club has a strong connection with The Open. It is a 12-time Open Qualifying venue and recently completed a £1million course renovation and upgrade as part of a five-year ‘Good2Great’ strategic plan.

Located just 1-hour from the coast and with easy access to the M6 motorway, Pleasington offers travelling golfers the perfect opportunity to experience one of the North West’s premier inland courses.

Set against a spectacular heathland backdrop, the course presents a rewarding challenge complemented by panoramic views stretching to the Pennines, Lakes and Fylde Coast.

Situated within one hour of Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds, Pleasington Golf Club welcomes visitors, corporate groups and societies.
