The second AfrAsia Bank Charity Classic Swing helped raise over €96,000 for breast cancer care across Mauritius
Six-time DP World Tour winner Marcel Siem joined Heritage Resorts & Golf and the Siem Together Foundation in hosting the second AfrAsia Bank Charity Classic Swing, an event dedicated to supporting breast cancer care in Mauritius.
Led by Laura Siem, a breast cancer survivor and founder of The Siem Together Foundation, the tournament brought together 80 golfers, distinguished guests and valued partners at Le Château Golf Course, consistently recognised among the Indian Ocean’s best courses. The event raised Rs 5.3 million (€96,000) in support of Breast Cancer Care Mauritius, for its help in providing support and counselling to patients and individuals on the island affected by the illness.
Reflecting on the success of the event, Laura said: “The second AfrAsia Bank Charity Classic Swing exceeded all expectations. We not only built on last year’s success but came very close to doubling the impact we achieved together. I am grateful to all parties involved, particularly Heritage Golf Club, for its support in enabling us to continue our work in breast cancer awareness, screening, education and patient support across Mauritius. Together, we are helping more women gain access to early detection and life-saving care.”
The event continued into the evening at La Réserve Golf Links, ranked a top 30 international course (outside the US), where guests enjoyed a memorable live performance generously offered by renowned saxophonist Jimmy Sax, one of the most enigmatic figures in the global electronic music scene.
An auction which included a 4-hour recording session with the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and VIP tickets to the DP World Tour’s Abu Dhabi Championship provided a fitting conclusion to a day defined by generosity and a shared commitment to making a meaningful difference in the fight against breast cancer.
