The National Golf Centre at Woodhall Spa, England, (14 September 2023): England Golf, the governing body of amateur golf in England, is set to take its ‘Respect in Golf’ movement to TV screens this week during the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, on 14-17 September 2023.

To mark the most powerful movement ever undertaken by the organisation, a first foray into the world of TV promotion begins with a 30-second infomercial being broadcast on Sky Sports Golf, spotlighting people from diverse backgrounds sharing their love of the game, celebrating their differences, and sending a clear message that everyone is welcome on England’s fairways and greens.

The Respect in Golf movement is designed to inspire, promote, and foster greater understanding and inclusivity within the sport of golf, having been launched by England Golf in August 2023.

Now, during one of the country’s most prominent golf events, England Golf is taking a stand to promote inclusivity in the sport by urging all golfers to join this significant movement and champion a golf community where everyone belongs. By leveraging its role as the governing body, the aim is to send a powerful message encouraging everyone to adopt a space of unity and respect.

Jeremy Tomlinson, Chief Executive Officer of England Golf, expressed his enthusiasm for the movement: “Golf belongs to everyone, and we should all have the opportunity to play the game we love without fear of being judged for who we are. England Golf is committed to tackling discrimination from within our sport, and we are confident our powerful new TV call to action will resonate with golfers, regardless of their background to join us in our movement towards greater inclusivity.

“The response to our recent Respect in Golf survey of English golfers has highlighted the need for improvement and change within our game and we look forward to sharing more data from this which will help guide this movement. We have taken promising early steps, and we are now committed to reach as many golfers as possible with our message and, together, driving positive changes for the generations to come.”

The Respect in Golf movement emphasises leading by example, promoting respect in all golf-related activities, and seeks to energise and support better understanding by establishing a shared language for change. Furthermore, it is dedicated to delivering a safe golfing environment, while also inspiring the creation of the most welcoming environment creating an equal opportunity to participate in golf at any level.

England Golf invites all golfers and fans of the game to engage with the Respect in Golf movement by visiting www.englandgolf.org/respect-in-golf and sharing its impactful launch video via England Golf’s social media channels.
