The Onyria Group has welcomed experienced professional Sandra Braz as director of golf, spearheading a vital sector of the business as the Portuguese hospitality operator enters an exciting new era.
In her role, Braz will oversee the acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Jnr golf course, Onyria Quinta da Marinha Golf – situated in the heart of the Cascais Resort that recently announced a partnership with IHG Hotels and Resorts – as well as internationally promoting the 27 holes designed by Donald Steel at Château des Vigiers, the popular French resort which the Onyria Group took control of earlier this year.
Braz has been a key figure in the golf tourism and destination marketing industries for more than two decades, including as the executive director of the Estoril Golf Bureau for 15 years. Her time in Estoril – which neighbours Cascais, home to the Onyria Group’s flagship venues – lends an invaluable knowledge of the region and its world-renowned offering for tourists.
In recent years, she has also served as golf sales manager at Be Live Hotels and in senior management roles at Bom Sucesso Resort on the country’s renowned Silver Coast.
Braz said: “I’m very proud to join the Onyria Group and oversee a golfing project which has been renowned as one of Portugal’s best for the four decades – and is now about to get even better as we expand internationally and partner with IHG Hotels and Resorts.”
João Pinto Coelho, CCO of the Onyria Group, said: “We have known Sandra for many years, and it was an easy decision to bring her to join the Onyria family.
“Her knowledge of and passion for the golf tourism world, especially in Cascais and the rest of Portugal, is second to none. We are very excited to have her on board as we start this new chapter for the company.”
