Close House has been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Places to Work at The Sunday Times Best Places to Work Awards.

Close House was ranked among the Top 10 businesses nationally in the Travel & Leisure sector and Medium Business category, alongside organisations including TaylorMade Golf and England Golf.

The club is also one of only five businesses in Newcastle upon Tyne to receive the accolade, recognising excellence in workplace culture, employee engagement and staff wellbeing.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work,” commented Jonathan Lupton, Managing Director of Close House. “This achievement is a reflection of the incredible people who make Close House what it is – a passionate and dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our members and guests every day.

“What makes this award especially meaningful is that the positive feedback we regularly receive from our members and guests is mirrored internally by our team. That shared sense of pride, support and community is something truly special, and we are incredibly proud to see it recognised on a national stage.

“I would like to thank every member of the team for their hard work and commitment. This recognition belongs to them, and we look forward to continuing to build a workplace where people can thrive.”

Home to the British Masters in 2017 and 2020, Close House has developed a strong workplace culture supporting its 125-strong team, with many employees remaining at the club for more than 20 years.

Employee benefits include a 25% staff discount, complimentary gym membership, free golf access and fully funded training opportunities across culinary, greenkeeping, golf and hospitality roles.

Team members are also recognised through long service awards and an annual black-tie staff awards evening, held alongside the golf club’s members’ trophy presentation.
