When an elite golfers tee off for the Solheim Cup later this year, John Deere will play a key role in their success.

Deere is partnering with organizers to be the exclusive provider of equipment and technical support necessary to maintain the Bernardus Golf Club in the Netherlands, the host of the 20th edition of the biennial competition between the top women pros from the USA and Europe, Sept. 7-13.

Long established as an LPGA and PGA Tour official partner as well as title sponsor of the John Deere Classic in the Quad Cities, “the company will use the Solheim Cup to demonstrate how advanced machinery, data-driven management, and high service standards can support top-level sports,” according to Paul Trowman, Deere’s Golf and Turf Business Manager.

John Deere equipment is on full display this week in Orlando at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America Show at the Orange County Convention Center, where we found six-time LPGA Tour winner Jessica Korda giving putting lessons to attendees as Deere showcased its transformative line of autonomous equipment.

This announcement was made on February 4th, National Women in Sports Day here in the United States, honoring the achievements of female athletes like Korda, along with their coaches and other industry leaders.

“We’ve got three new products we are introducing, and if you’re interested in cutting grass on the golf course, we want to be your autonomous solutions provider,” said Chase Tew, who serves as Production Systems & Business Unit Manager, and has been with John Deere for 27 years.

The latest turf equipment line features Greentek and Thatch-Away technologies designed to enhance surface performance and reduce labor costs. They are also showcasing the 2775 E-Cut™ Electric Triplex Mower with Whisper Link™ technology, incorporating connected, smart-machine solutions.

“Autonomy is not about labor elimination, but rather reallocation,” added Tew. “So many hours on the golf course are spent mowing grass, and what we want to do is help superintendents offboard that labor from mowing and redeploy their people to better jobs so your attention to detail around agronomy, soil sensing, irrigation, and chemical applications becomes more routine and the quality of the health of the grass gets better.”

That should be music to golfers’ ears, too, as the objective is to improve the course’s playability.

John Deere has also been the Official Golf Course Equipment Supplier for the TPC Network since 1998, providing mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles to PGA Tour-owned courses. That partnership, recently extended through 2030, underscores a long-term commitment to course maintenance, with TPC Deere Run in Illinois hosting the John Deere Classic from July 2-5.
