Amanda Dorans recognised in Leadership category for outstanding contribution to sustainability and equality.
Dundonald Links assistant superintendent Amanda Dorans’ influence as one of UK golf’s most respected voices has received key recognition after she was named as a finalist in the Leadership category at the Women in Golf Awards 2025.
A respected leader and advocate for sustainability and inclusion, Dorans has built a distinguished career defined by technical expertise and a people-first approach to leadership.
She began her career at Dundonald Links in 2003, staying for 18 years before enjoying sustainability roles at The Gleneagles Hotel and Loch Lomond Golf Club. She returned to Dundonald Links in 2023 and has since helped lead both the Ayrshire venue and sister resort The Springs Resort & Golf Club to renewed GEO Certified® status in 2025.
Her pioneering sustainability work also includes co-creating the Ayrshire Nectar Network, a large-scale habitat restoration initiative reintroducing the small blue butterfly and uniting more than 40 regional partners to restore biodiversity across Ayrshire.
Beyond her environmental impact, Amanda has been a driving force for equality and representation in golf, serving as the first woman to sit on the BIGGA Board and to chair a regional section. She also helped establish key industry initiatives, including The R&A’s Women in Golf Leadership Development Programme and Loch Lomond Golf Club’s Women in Golf Charter pledge.
Dorans said: “It’s an incredible honour to be recognised alongside so many inspirational women who are shaping the future of our industry. I’m proud to represent the wider team – a team that truly values sustainability, inclusivity, and the people who make golf such a special community. This nomination is a reflection of our shared commitment to creating lasting, positive change.”
Frank Clarkson, group superintendent, added: “Amanda’s nomination is richly deserved. Her leadership, expertise, and passion for people and the planet have made a lasting impact not only at Dundonald Links and The Springs, but across the wider golf community.
“Her ability to inspire collective action across teams ensures that both venues continue to raise the bar for sustainable and inclusive practices, and we’re incredibly proud to have her as part of our team.”
Now in its fourth year, the Women in Golf Awards celebrate individuals and organisations driving progress across all areas of the sport. The 2025 ceremony will take place at Foxhills Country Club & Resort on November 27, bringing together leaders, innovators, and changemakers from across the golfing world.
