The 2025 HotelPlanner Tour came to a dramatic conclusion at Club de Golf Alcanada as the Mallorca venue hosted the Rolex Grand Final for the fifth time.
Taking place from October 30 to November 2, the end-of-season showpiece saw James Morrison become the third Englishman to lift the trophy in view of Alcanada’s iconic lighthouse, following in the footsteps of Marco Penge (2023) and Nathan Kimsey (2022).
In a tournament covered extensively on Sky Sports, showing off Alcanada’s acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Jnr course and magnificent Mediterranean views in high definition, Morrison had 13-year-old son Finley caddying for him as he sealed his return to the DP World Tour.
Meanwhile, South African JC Ritchie finished seventh to confirm that he would top the Road to Mallorca rankings and be named HotelPlanner Tour Number One – the first man from his country to do so.
In total 20 players earned coveted DP World Tour cards for next season, an honour reserved for the top 20 on the final leaderboard.
Morrison, Ritchie and their 18 fellow graduates will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrell Hatton, Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard, Robert MacIntyre and Justin Rose, all of whom graduated from the HotelPlanner Tour to kick off their fledgling careers.
Additionally, Ritchie and the rest of the Road to Mallorca Rankings top five will benefit from the John Jacobs Bursary, introduced in 2021 to provide newly promoted players with the strongest possible platform for their first season on the European Tour Group’s top tier.
Running concurrently, the G4D Tour Series Finale @ Rolex Grand Final – the climax of Europe’s premier tour for golfers with disabilities – saw Kipp Poppert (Gross event) and Daniel Slabbert (Net event) lift their respective titles.
Kristoff Both, director at Club de Golf Alcanada, said: “Congratulations to James, JC and all the graduates after four days of exceptional golf.
“This event has become such a highlight for the club and it never fails to thrill and inspire us all.
“Congratulations are also in order for Kipp Poppert and Daniel Slabbert for their triumphs in the G4D Tour Series Finale @ Rolex Grand Final, which was also a huge success and an unforgettable moment in the club’s history as we hosted for the first time.”
The tournament was aided by the support of the Agencia de Estrategia Turística de las Illes Balears (AETIB) and the Fundació Turisme Responsable de Mallorca del Consell de Mallorca. Alejandro Sáenz, Minister of Business, Employment and Energy of the Govern de les Illes Balears, and José Marcial, Minister of Tourism of the Consell de Mallorca, were both present at the ceremony.
