Back-to-back events to be held at Moroccan venue in February and March
Morocco’s Al Houara Golf Club will play a decisive role in the relaunched MENA Golf Tour schedule, hosting two events across two weeks in February and March.
The venue in Tangier, which has seen significant growth since engaging Troon International in 2024, will play a prominent role on the 2026 MENA Golf Tour, which started last November and features a total of 12 events across the new season.
The MENA Golf Tour is one of the world’s leading professional development tours, centred around the Middle East and North Africa region and counting the likes of two-time Ryder Cup winners Matt Fitzpatrick, a Troon ambassador, and Robert MacIntyre among its former players.
The action at Al Houara Golf Club will begin with the Al Houara Classic from February 26-28. The club’s championship course – designed by Graham Marsh and Vijay Singh – will test players further at the Hilton Classic from March 2-4. Both are 54-hole tournaments with $100,000USD each in the prize pot.
For Al Houara Golf Club, being entrusted with two key events is testament to the MENA Tour’s strong relationship with Troon International – the international division of Troon, the world’s largest golf hospitality management company and operators of a strong contingent of venues in the region.
Keith Waters, Chairman and Commissioner of the MENA Golf Tour, said: “The inclusion of Al Houara Golf Club on the 2026 MENA Golf Tour schedule marks an exciting milestone for both the Tour and Moroccan golf. The world-class facilities, combined with the spectacular setting on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, make it an outstanding venue for our players. These events will provide vital competitive opportunities and showcase Al Houara as one of the region’s premier golfing destinations.”
Nestled between the majestic Rif mountains and the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Al Houara Golf Club offers a spectacular challenge as the layout winds through golden sand dunes and lush green vegetation. Operating under the Troon Golf brand, Al Houara has seen significant increases in rounds played, revenues and gross operating profit since Troon’s engagement.
Players will stay at the luxurious Hilton Tangier Al Houara Resort and Spa, which sits less than a kilometre from the golf course; more than 500 total room nights are expected to be booked throughout the series.
Jerome Querrien, Lead Operation and Maintenance at Qatari Diar Morocco, said: “The whole team at Al Houara has been working incredibly hard, especially since Troon became involved two years ago, to elevate this club to its true potential and one of the key indicators of that is being entrusted with hosting tournaments like these. We are looking forward to welcoming the MENA Golf Tour to our outstanding golf course.”
DJ Flanders, Executive Vice President of Troon International, said: “This is a well-deserved honour for Al Houara’s exceptional course and talented, hard-working team. The MENA Tour is a perfect fit for Al Houara, especially as these events will come at such a pivotal point in the season.
“It also highlights the growing strength of Morocco as a golf destination and the positive impact that Troon’s international management expertise can bring to venues in emerging markets. We’ve seen remarkable progress at Al Houara in the past two years — from improved course conditioning to enhanced guest experiences and stronger financial performance. Hosting two MENA Tour events is both recognition of that success and an exciting platform for further growth.”
